UNIT 7: OSCILLATIONS
STANDARDS
U7.1 - For simple harmonic motion, I can sketch a graph of displacement as a function of time and use it to determine amplitude, period, and frequency.
U7.2 - I can write expressions for displacement and velocity as functions of time for simple harmonic motion.
U7.3 - I can state and apply the relationship between period and frequency.
U7.4 - I can relate energy to amplitude, sketch and use a graph of energy as a function of time to determine where energy is kinetic or potential.
U7.5 - I can calculate kinetic and potential energy of an oscillating system and use them to demonstrate that energy is conserved.
U7.6 - I can derive and apply an expression for the period of oscillation for a mass on a spring.
U7.7 - I can analyze and solve problems for a mass on a spring oscillating horizontally or vertically.
U7.8 - I can apply the expression for the period of a simple pendulum.
U7.2 - I can write expressions for displacement and velocity as functions of time for simple harmonic motion.
