unit 3: Newton's Laws
In unit 3, we will cover causes of motion and Newton's laws. Most of this material was covered in honors physics, however, some new additions are terminal velocity and two-body systems. We will also be covering older material at a higher level of difficulty.
Standards
U3.1 - I can state Newton’s 1st law and recognize applicable situations.
U3.2 - I can draw a well-labeled free-body diagram showing all forces acting on an object.
U3.3 - I can write net force equations.
U3.4 - I can use Newton’s 2nd law to solve problems.
U3.5 - I understand coefficient of friction, can calculate it, and can apply it to solve problems.
U3.6 - I can find the terminal velocity of an object moving vertically.
U3.7 - I can state Newton’s 3rd law and apply it to systems of two or more objects to solve problems.
Standards U3.5 and U3.7 are the only ones we will be testing from this unit.
